Silver plating is a functional electrolytic process involving the deposition of silver to take advantage of its electrical conductivity and low contact resistance characteristics.
The resulting aesthetic appearance is a brilliant white, characteristic of technical electrolytic silver plating, different from “silver plated” which is only an aesthetic finish. The most common specifications call for deposits of 0.5 to 10 microns, but in some cases we apply thicknesses as thick as 50 microns. To treat small parts, at Tobaldini we have rotobarrel silvering while, for larger parts or where there is a need to preserve the aesthetics of the part, we use the frame system. The materials that can be processed are many: steel, stainless and tempered steel, iron, copper, brass, aluminum, zamak, and sintered.
It is the “prince” treatment in the electrical industry precisely because of its electrical conductivity characteristics.
